Senior Development Assessment Officer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a capable and experienced professional to join our motivated Development Assessment team. The City of Parramatta is experiencing unprecedented growth which includes infill developments and urban renewal with significant challenges. This continued growth has generated Development Applications of both increased value and complexity including those that warrant determination by the Sydney Central City Planning Panel and the Parramatta Local Planning Panel.

Council has recently commenced a Prioritisation Assessment Program which responds to an invitation from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment that prioritises the assessment and progression of development projects that contribute to the recovery of the City of Parramatta economy from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with the newly introduced NSW Planning Portal and the strengthening of Council’s procedures, Council is in an enviable position to accelerate exciting development projects for the city while providing efficient outcomes to its customers and facilitate effective decision making.

The successful candidate for the role must have extensive experience (minimum of 5 years) in the assessment of a wide range of Development Applications and the ability to operate effectively in a political and commercial environment, in a high performing team.  On a daily basis, you will be working independently in the processing of Development Applications, providing planning advice to internal and external stakeholders and mentoring student and junior planners. The successful applicant will need to be motivated, experienced in Development Assessment and willing to accept the challenge of proving a high level of service to the City of Parramatta.

We are offering an attractive salary which ranges from $97,175 to $106,990 pa. plus Super. City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate. Participation in Council’s Motor Vehicle Scheme will be discussed with the successful applicant.
